Update on Gail's Family

Hello to all my cousins and others who read this!

Halloween is a turning of the seasons in our area. The leaves are coming down, Halloween is over for most, and thoughts might be on Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season. Walking our dog this morning, I became keenly aware that we must again blow the leaves into the woods beside our home in Fern Creek. Many of you are likely having similar thoughts.

If I haven't thanked you already, please know that I appreciate all your support for our family during Gail's cancer treatment and her death. I found the memorial services both in Hoover and Fern Creek especially moving. Many people have asked how Ron and their children are doing. When I last spoke to Ron, he continues to make plans for trips and takes Kelly to the Y and other appointments. Jeff will be 31 this month. He is in grief counseling. Ron will be working on communicating with his son. Kelly is getting support through her religious education group. Her birthday was in September.

Ron has a brother in Louisville and a sister in southern Indiana. Jim and I have children in the area as do both of Ron's siblings. All of us would like to see him move back to Kentucky closer to us. He says he is thinking about it. Kelly could become a member of Downs Syndrome of Louisville which is the largest organization of its kind in North America! I was surprised to hear this.

Tomorrow is the Feast of All Souls. There will be two pictures of Gail on the Altar de Ofrenas Dia do los Fieles Difufuntos in the back of the church at my parish. (yes, I had to look at our bulletin to get that spelling!)  I don't know how she and others will be remembered at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Birmingham.
